It is with heavy hearts that we convey the passing of Albert Thomas Muir, our Beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother and friend, on November 26, 2024, at the Logan Regional Hospital.
Al was born on June 8th, 1944 in Toronto, Canada to Raymond George Muir and Marjorie Mottershead. He lived there until the age of 8, when he immigrated to the United States with his family, settling in southern California.
As a young boy, Al worked in his father’s bakery, which helped him develop a high level of self discipline, which was evident throughout his life. Al had a strong work ethic and drive, which led to a successful career in his professions.
Having been previously married, Al was sealed to his eternal sweetheart, Cynthia, on July 23rd, 1993, in the Los Angeles, California Temple.
In July of 1994, Al and Cynthia made Cache Valley, Utah their permanent home. It was here that their 4 daughters came into their lives.
Al was truly a great man. He was ever humble, selfless and loving. He was always ready and willing to help anyone that he possibly could. He served his neighbors, and in many capacities in the Church. His most treasured calling was serving as an ordinance worker in the Logan, Utah Temple. It was very hard on him when his health no longer permitted this, and he always longed for the day when he could serve in the temple again.
Al had a plan and goals for each day that he lived. He was a tremendous example to his family in the way he chose to live his life. He had a strong testimony of the truthfulness of the gospel of Jesus Christ.
He exemplified true courage and faith, as he unwaveringly battled his severe health challenges of the past several years, but persisted in doing all that his body would allow him to.
Al was a lifelong learner. He was a talented writer, an accomplished cook, and an enthusiastic gardener. He was fond of early morning walks, and greatly enjoyed planning memorable trips for his family. He dedicated himself most diligently to genealogical and family history work, and his accomplishments in this area are innumerable.
Al is survived by his loving wife and soulmate, Cynthia, his precious daughters, Amanda (Kent) Bowen, Emilee, Kimberlee, and Katelyn–also by 2 cherished grandchildren, Zuke Bowen and Malani Bowen.
He was preceded in death by his daughter, Aimee, his parents and his sister, Margie Schaack.
Al, we will forever cherish and always remember your selfless love and devotion to us. We will never stop missing you, but know that we will be reunited together again.
