Ashley Wallar

July 4, 1984 — August 4, 2023

Ashley Speth Wallar, 39, of Smithfield Ut, passed away peacefully on Aug. 4, 2023 after a long courageous battle with many health complications. Ashley was born on July 4, 1984 in Salt Lake City, Utah and was loving placed in the arms of O’Dell and Jalaine Speth on July 11, 1984. Ashley was one of the most cherished gifts our family ever received. She was a very active, curious child with an ever present smile that had a hint of mischief and a whole lot of fun. She grew up in Smithfield around tons of adventurous, fun-loving cousins that she adored and loved to spend time with.

She graduated from Sky View High School in 2002. After high school, Ashley worked at Convergys where she met and immediately fell in love with Matthew Wallar, whom she married on June 10, 2006. Together along with their fur babies, Matt and Ashley made a wonderful life together. They were a match made in heaven and had a deep and caring relationship that was amazing to watch.

Ashley exuded childlike enthusiasm her whole life. She found great pleasure in the simple things of life. She loved a good book, a captivating movie, delectable food, hearty laughter, and enjoyed spending time with Matt and the rest of her family. Ashley had a sweet and kind soul. She had the kindest spirit and loved everyone she met. She made people feel extremely loved and accepted. She had a great laugh and a fun sense of humor. She had a deep love for her extended family—She always knew what was going on in people’s life and was always cheering them on. She LOVED being an auntie and treated her nieces and nephews like they were her own.

For the past year, Ashley has dealt with numerous health complications, multiple surgeries, and hospitalizations. Since September 2022, Ashley has not been able to be home but spent her life in hospitals and care centers. She was a fierce fighter and kept fighting until the very end with Matt always right by her side. She suffered greatly during the past year yet always had a positive attitude and chose to look on the bright side of things. Her family takes comfort that her pain is now over.

She is survived by her loving husband Matt Wallar, her dad O’Dell Speth, her bonus mom Terri Speth, her only sister Amy(Yakub) Ali and her six nieces and nephews: Saif, Sohil, Alisha, Addie, Sofia and Adam Ali. She was preceded in death by her mom Jalaine Holmstead Speth, her Father-in Law Ray Wallar and her mother-in-law Barbara Wallar and her two dogs Daisy and Boomer.
