LaRay passed from this life on September 6, 2018 after almost 85 years of living what he called “the good life”. He was born Nov 6, 1933 to Ausmond C. and Luetella Anderson Willden in Scipio, Utah, the 6th of 7 children. He lived and loved the life of a small town farm boy.
He Graduated from Fillmore High School and was attending Snow College when a good Bishop asked him to serve a mission. In 1954 he was called as a Missionary to the East Central States Mission where he served honorably for 2 years. While at a Mission Conference in Memphis, Tennessee, he met his future wife who was serving as a Branch Missionary in the Memphis Branch. They were married January 8, 1957 in the Salt Lake LDS Temple.
After graduating from Snow College in 1961 he moved his family to Logan to finish school at USU. He would spend 26 years working for Mt. Fuel Supply (Questar Gas/Dominion) and retiring in 1991 to take care of his family, his garden and yard. Anyone who knew LaRay knew he loved to be outside working with his children growing things.
LaRay always loved and served his Heavenly Father and Savior in any capacity he was called to from Bishoprics to a Coordinator in the Logan Temple Baptistry. Mostly, he loved serving others and always had a number of older people he looked out after, whether he was their Home Teacher or not. He and his children shoveled walks in the winter, tilled gardens in the summer and he ruly loved his neighbor as himself, as the Savior taught us.
He is survived by his wife Barbara and 7 children; Delwin (Juli), Dale (Sherry), Donna (Scott), Dixie [Todd), Dallas (Julie), Darla (Paul) and Dennis (Amy), 28 grandchildren, 13 great grandchildren with one due in December. He was preceded in death by his parents, 4 brothers and 1 sister. He is survived by 1 sister, Anna Lue (Ray) Walbeck.
Visitation will be September 10, 2018, from 6 to 8 PM and services for LaRay will be held on September 11, 2018 at 11:00 AM with visitation from 9:30 to 10:30 prior to the services. All services will be held in the Nibley 6″ Ward Church 360 West 3200 South, Nibley, Utah with interment at the Millville Nibley Cemetery.
