Our world was blessed when Betty Lou came into this world to Rex and Betty Smith in Holbrook, Navajo, Arizona on July 1, 1959. She was the fourth daughter and daddy’s favorite (she would always tell us). But while living in River Heights, Cache, Utah Betty returned to her heavenly home on April 21, 2019
Betty enjoyed her family and friends. She was a wonderful daughter, sister, aunt, niece, cousin and an awesome friend. Betty’s surviving family are her sister Lynne M Nash and four younger brothers, David W Smith (Hope Duran-Smith), Eric D Smith (Kimberly Smith), Larry D Smith (Georgina) and Jeffery K Smith (Jennie Smith) Many nieces and nephews Thomas Laird, James Laird, Timothy Laird, Amanda G Smith, Jonathan Eden, Stewart Smith, Carri Parada, Amanda Andrew, Charles Duran, Larry Smith, Bobbi Stodemire, Cassandra Verzai, Jedrick Smith, Phoebe Smith, Nadia Rose, Aubrey Smith, Tyler Smith, Britanie Frogley, Cameron Smith, McKenzie Smith and a few great nieces and nephews. Betty loved her nieces and nephews and took time to listen to them, as well as making them feel special and making them something just from her.
Betty is preceded in death by her father Rex Donald, her mother Betty Gene and two sisters Vicki Ann and Wanda Gene.
Betty and her family moved to San Fernando California in 1962 from Arizona. She attended Morningside Elementary, San Fernando Junior High and graduated from Sylmar High School in 1977. Betty worked and lived in San Fernando until she moved to Azusa, California. In 2003 Betty moved to Utah and then to River Heights. Betty loved to travel and visit her brother Eric and his family in England, Virginia and California.
Betty was a quiet friend one that was there to help you, but never wanted anything in return. She loved her beads; Betty made many beautiful pieces of jewelry and ornaments. Once I asked her “How do you know what beads look good together?” her reply was (with a giggle) the beads talk to me. Betty was a mystery spirit; she would do what she wanted and laughed along the way. Just minding her business and being creative.
Our love for Betty Lou is strong and we will honor her wishes and quietly have a day to remember the beauty she blessed our family with. We know that A Family is Forever, and we are blessed to see her again.
Betty was a very private person and requested not to have a memorial service. She will be cremated by Cache Valley Mortuary. She will be remembered with respect, love and gratitude. Services are under
