Bonnie Lue Eskelson Godfrey, born on October 14, 1949, in Logan, Utah, passed away peacefully at her home in Smithfield, Utah, on August 31, 2024. She was a beloved daughter, wife, mother, grandmother, and friend, known for her warmth, kindness, and love for family.
Bonnie was the cherished daughter of John Doris Eskelson and Lucille Davis Eskelson. Growing up in High Creek Canyon in Cove, Utah, she attended school in Lewiston and later graduated from Sky View High School in Smithfield. Following her graduation, Bonnie attended & graduated from Hollywood Beauty College in Logan.
On September 27, 1968, Bonnie married John Vanoy Godfrey in Cove, Utah. The couple established their home in Smithfield, where they created a life filled with love, laughter, and unforgettable memories.
Bonnie had a deep appreciation for nature and thoroughly enjoyed visiting Yellowstone National Park. Many of her happiest moments were spent there, exploring the beauty of the park with her husband on their wedding anniversaries and enjoying family trips. Additionally, she relished every holiday season, taking great joy in decorating, cooking, and sharing delightful meals with her family and friends.
Bonnie is survived by her devoted husband, John Vanoy Godfrey, and their children: Troy (Kiley) Godfrey, Shane (Kari) Godfrey, and Terry Godfrey. She leaves behind a legacy of love through her eight grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. Bonnie is also survived by her brothers Johnny and Jerry Eskelson, along with a host of extended family and friends who will deeply miss her.
The family expresses their heartfelt gratitude to Intermountain Homecare and Hospice, particularly the compassionate nurses whose kindness made Bonnie’s passing more peaceful.
Bonnie will forever be remembered for her loving spirit, joyful nature, and the impact she had on the lives of those around her.
A graveside service will be held for Bonnie on Saturday, Sep 7, 2024 at 12 noon in the Clarkston Cemetery.
