Carol Seamons Howells

On Saturday, August 28, 2021, Heaven gained an angel and became a lot brighter when our beloved mother, grandmother, aunt and friend Carol Seamons Howells, died peacefully at the age of 95.
Carol Seamons Howells was born in Hyde Park, Utah, a daughter of Harvey and Melba Olney Seamons. She was raised in Hyde Park and attended school in Smithfield and Richmond. She was a graduate of North Cache High School. After high school, she became employed by Sears Roebuck Company. She was also introduced to the love of her life, Del Howells. They were married in the Logan Temple on March 19, 1948. After their marriage, they resided in Paradise, Utah. Del bought his dad’s farm in Avon and started a dairy farm. Carol worked side by side with him for many years. They were blessed with four wonderful children: Janet (deceased), Rodney (deceased), Garth and Mark. Spending time with family was the most treasured part of Carol’s life.
Carol is a faithful member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. She served in the Primary and Relief Society. She enjoyed visiting teaching and working in the library at church on Sundays for many years. Her testimony of the Savior was shown in her actions of service and kindness to anyone she met. Whether Carol knew you or not, she was your friend. There’s no one on this earth who was as nice, kind, caring, friendly and pleasant as Carol. She could find a bright side in any situation and tried to face even the darkest times with a smile. Carol belonged to the Daughters of the Utah Pioneers (DUP). She was proud to be a descendent of pioneer ancestors. Her Grandma Seamons crossed the plains with the Willie Handcart Company. Carol was always proud to say she’d lived with a pioneer since her Grandma Seamons lived with her family until her death right before Carol was married. Carol made many lifelong friends in DUP and loved the associations she had there.
Carol was a pristine housekeeper. We always knew her floor was clean enough to eat off since she scrubbed it on hands and knees every day. We’re pretty sure that’s how she wore out her hip, which was replaced when she was 89 years old. She was also a wonderful cook. Her hot rolls, bread. pies, fudge and divinity were famous. Music was a big part of Carol’s life. She was an incredible pianist. She tried to make us feel bad, telling us how she only had lessons for 10 months, but nobody could play the piano anywhere near as good as she could even with many years of piano lessons! She enjoyed playing in a band with her dad and accompanied many people, played for funerals, in church, and for many other occasions. She also sang with Del as he played his steel guitar. She and Del shared their talents with many people through her life. In their later years, they made two CDS which will be treasured by their family forever. Carol also loved to dance, which unfortunately came to somewhat of an end when she wore out Del’s knees.
After almost 68 years of marriage, Del passed away in 2016. Carol missed him terribly but continued to be active and enjoy time with her family. In April of 2018, Carol’s health required her to move into Blacksmith Fork Assisted Living. She made so many friends with the residents and staff there. We are forever grateful for the care she received. They helped her continue dancing, from her wheelchair to her recliner. We know her life was extended because of it and blessed us with many more memories.
Carol is survived by her sons, Garth Howells and Mark (Lori) Howells, sister, Ramona Lamb, daughter-in-law, Carol Smith, 12 grandchildren, 29 great-grandchildren, and 4 great-great-grandchildren. She was proceeded in death by her husband, Del Howells, parents, Harvey and Melba Seamons, son, Rodney Howells, daughter, Janet Ohlwiler, son-in-law, Alan Ohlwiler, her great-grandson, McKay Pearce, her brothers and their wives, Ervin (LaRane), Tick (Rhonda), Clynn (Jean) and Val, and brother-in-law, Earl Lamb We know there was a joyous reunion with these loved ones, especially her children who she loved and has missed so very much.
Funeral services are under the direction of Cache Valley Mortuary and will be held Saturday, September 4, 2021, at 11:00 am, in the Paradise 1st and 4th Ward Chapel, located at 155 East 9400 South, Paradise, Utah. There will be a viewing held prior to the service, from 9:00 to 10:30 a.m., prior to the service. Burial will be in the Paradise Cemetery.
