Early Monday morning, Sept 4th, Mrs. Carol Ann Stinner of North Logan, Utah succumbed to pancreatic cancer and passed quietly to rest.Carol was born July 27th, 1939 in Allentown, Pennsylvania, the daughter of Claude Moses and Celia Ann McKewen, now deceased. She is survived by her husband William; older sister, Margret Ann Silver of Washington DC, and her younger brother, Robert McKewen of North Logan. Her extended family includes 4 nieces and three nephews. There are 18 great nieces and nephews and 5 great, great nieces and nephews.Carol attended Sacred Heart Academy in Allentown and graduated in 1957. She then enrolled in Pennsylvania State University and graduated in 1961. Carol had met her future husband, LTjg William Frank Stinner (also of Allentown) during their college years. They married shortly after her graduation and Carol began her married life as a Navy Wife in Jacksonville Florida. On Bill’s release from the Navy both Carol and her husband began graduate studies at Penn State. His studies were in Sociology and concentrated on Population Trends. Receiving his doctorate and a Ford Fellowship grant, Carol and he moved to the Philippines. During their two years there both Carol and Bill developed a lifelong passion for the country and their people.In 1973. Carol and her husband moved to Logan when her husband was named an Associate Professor (later a full professor) at Utah State and both settled down to the academic life. Carol found time to continue her studies and also contributed to the social fabric of society. She served on the local Zoning Board; Ran for office on the Board of Education; was elected and served as President of the American Association of University Women for Utah State. Throughout her life she actively worked for women’s rights. Following private family services Carol was interred at North Logan Cemetery on September 11th.
