Carolyn D. Van Dam

Carolyn Diane van Dam,of Wellsville, passed peacefully from this life to return to her Father in Heaven. Carolyn was the daughter of Adelaide Gagne and James Vernon. She was born in San Luis Obispo, CA. She met and married her eternal companion, Adrianus (Ed) van Dam in the Los Angeles Temple on March 29, 1968. They found a great love for the city of Wellsville where they completed their family of ten children. Carolyn and Ed were just six weeks short of their Golden Anniversary. Way to go Mom and Dad!!
Carolyn joined the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints March 5, 1960. She later served an LDS mission in Montana from 1962 -1963. She taught primary for many years with her husband. She had a love of genealogy and working in the temple. She loved the gospel with all of her heart. She spent her life dedicated to raising her children and making their house a home. Reading, baking, gardening, and her love for the outdoors were some of her favorite things. She enjoyed camping in the family’s favorite spot, Flaming Gorge, UT.
Preceded in death by her parents and daughter, Malinda. She is survived by her husband Ed and 9 children; Janus(Jen), Suzie(Mike), Chris(Jennie), James(Erika), Lydia, Mike(Wendy), Serena, Jennifer(Jed), Ingrid. Also a sister, Doreen and a brother, Jay. She loved each of her 25 grandchildren, and 4 great grandchildren.
The family wishes to express appreciation to Dr. Robert Nash and the staff at Rocky Mountain Care Center, for the excellent care and concern given to Carolyn and the entire family.
Viewings will be held Thur, Feb 15, 2018, from 6 to 8 pm & Fri, Feb 16, from 9:30 to 10:30 am, both at the Wellsville Stake Center located at the corner of Main and Center. Funeral services in her honor will follow the viewing Friday morning at 11 am. Interment will be in the Wellsville cemetery. Share a memory of Carolyn at www.cvmortuary.com .
