Caryle Jean Hansen

Caryle Jean Manwaring Hansen was born March 29, 1942 in St. George, Utah to Orson Elwood and Ella Neilson Manwaring. She died peacefully in her sleep on June 6, 2019. She was the oldest of 6 children. The Manwaring’s moved from Utah to Idaho in 1945. Caryle attended Groveland Elementary, Blackfoot Jr. High and graduated from Blackfoot High School in 1960. In high school her interest was in sports playing basketball. Her growing up years was spent on a 40 acre farm in Groveland, Idaho. She loved the outdoors and proclaimed herself a tomboy. She helped on the farm milking the cows, hauling hay and tending her younger siblings. She learned to drive a stick shift at age 10 driving in the fields.After high school Caryle went to Utah State University in Logan. She majored in English and Physical Education but said she got a husband degree instead. She met Kenneth Hansen in Dec. of 1960. They dated for 10 months and married Oct. 27, 1961 in the Idaho Falls Temple. They honeymooned in Yellowstone Park and loved to go back there often. They purchased a home in Hyde Park, Utah and spent the next 50 years together there. Ken died in 2011. Their only son Kelly James Hansen was born on Jan. 8, 1965. He died in 2015.Caryle worked several places in Logan. Cache Valley Dairy, H&R Block, Utah Mortgage & Loans in collections, the Credit Bureau, Thomas Jewelers and an Electronic company as a laser scribe operator. She was president of the Credit Women’s club and honored as Women of the year there.Carlyle’s happiest times were spent with family. She loved traveling to Island Park to the family cabin. She and Ken would go on rides to Yellowstone, Jackson Hole, Logan Canyon and around Cache Valley. At family reunions you could always count on Caryle pulling something out of the trunk of her car to add to the occasion.In 1996 Caryle, Ken, and Kelly had the amazing opportunity to celebrate Utah’s Centennial. They offered to drive the Cache Valley Wagon with a set of Percheron horses joining the wagon train from Logan to Cedar City, Utah, 446 miles. This horse drawn wagon train only traveled 20 miles a day so it took the whole month of June. They were also in the Days of ‘47 Parade in Salt Lake in 1997. Ken also raised Arabian horses that they would enter in many of the parades in the area.Caryle & Ken were on the activity committee for their ward for many years. They would do the cooking at many of the ward campouts. Caryle participated in the ward sports program coaching many girls in softball, basketball and volleyball. The girls loved her fast pitch to practice against in softball. She was also a den mother, sang in the choir and teacher in the auxiliaries for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.Caryle is survived by siblings Russ (Louise) Manwaring of Emmett, Idaho, Linda Manwaring of Blackfoot, Idaho and Kathy (Rett) Hubbard of Creswell, Oregon. Many cousins, nieces, nephews that all loved her dearly. She was so happy and cheery to everyone and willing to do what she could for you. She loved the people and activities at Sunshine Terrace in Logan. They were like family to her. Her motto was “Smile, they’ll wonder what you’re up to”.Graveside services will be held at Hyde Park Cemetery at 11:00 am June 15, 2019. A viewing will be held at the Cache Valley Mortuary at 80 W. 4200 N. Hyde Park, Utah, from 9:30-10:30 am on June 15.
