CHARLES DENNIS PEART

February 28, 1936 to January 3, 2025

Charles Dennis Peart was born on February 28, 1936, in Logan, Utah, to Charles and Verda Peart. He most recently resided in Nibley, Utah. A proud veteran, he served as a Special Combat Engineer in the U.S. Army during the Korean War, an experience that shaped much of his character and values. Chuck married Marilyn Kay High on July 17, 1964. They were sealed in the Oakland California temple on November 14, 1981, and together they raised nine children. He cherished his special bond with his daughter Jané, who brought him great joy. He was a proud grandfather of 17 grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren.

Chuck had a remarkable career that began after his honorable discharge from the Army. He worked at Hill Air Force Base, where he was introduced to data processing and computers. In 1964 he began a career as a computer programmer with the IBM Corporation, where he specialized in the design and development of computer systems for the U.S. Air Force. His career with IBM gave him and his family the opportunity to live in various locations, including Washington D.C., Japan, Hawaii, California and New York. As IBM's West Coast Operations Manager, his team designed software programs for the U.S. Navy and NASA.

Following his retirement from IBM, he continued to serve his community as a realtor and manager for Deseret Industries. Chuck was a lifelong member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. He was devoted to his faith, serving in various ward and stake callings throughout

his life, often alongside his beloved wife, Marilyn. As Service Missionaries, Chuck and Marilyn worked at the bishop’s storehouse and enjoyed helping others during their time there. Chuck was an avid gardener and enjoyed fishing the lakes and rivers of the Utah mountains. He developed a love for classical music in his youth that continued throughout his life. He was an excellent cook. His clam linguini was a family favorite that he always prepared whenever there was a family gathering. He had a fondness for classic movies, particularly John Wayne westerns and any that were

about World War II. He was also a fan of Jazz basketball, often watching games with Jané and Marilyn. Chuck loved his Diet Coke, Eggo waffles, Carl’s Jr. cheeseburgers, and always had a jar of cashews within reach. Above all, Chuck's greatest love was for his family, and he will be deeply missed by all who knew him.
