Charles Robert Wood

August 16, 1932 — April 29, 2023

On April 29, 2023 our loving father, Charles Robert Wood, passed away at home with his family around him.
Charles Robert Wood was born in Logan, Utah on August 16, 1932 to Harold Gilbert Wood and Elna Ivie. He grew up working on the family dairy farm in Lewiston, Utah. He enjoyed bird hunting and sports, especially football and baseball.
Dad graduated from North Cache High School in 1950 and joined the National Guard. His unit was called to active duty in August of that year and was sent to Korea. Upon returning from Korea he married his High School sweetheart Joycelyn Heaps in the Logan Temple.
He worked for the Amalgamated Sugar Company in Lewiston until it closed in 1972. He became a full-time dairy farmer in Lewiston with his Father, Harold, and later with his son Richard. He and Joycelyn worked for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. After retiring from the Church, they were not ready to sit still, so they found a job at White Pine Elementary School in Richmond, Utah and worked there until they finally retired for good.
Dad was service minded, you could find him flipping burgers on the 4th of July for the American Legion, or coaching boys city league baseball. He and Joycelyn worked in the Lewiston Community Theatre for 30yrs. Dad ran the projector and mom sold tickets and concessions.
He was an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. A favorite calling was their 8 years of service in the Logan Temple.
Our Dad loved being with his growing family, sponsoring annual Bear Lake family reunions, cooking with dutch ovens, loving and supporting us with whatever our families needed. He enjoyed working with his hands, making birdhouses, table decorations for our weddings and chalk painting on ceramic to name a few. We will miss his love of music and teasing sense of humor!
He is survived by his sweetheart of 72 years, Fern Joycelyn Heaps, his brother William Craig Wood, and five of his 6 children. Richard Jay Wood (Sharron), Susan Wood King(Jim), Jolyn Wood, Patricia Wood Petersen (Gary), Curtis Gilbert Wood (Danae), 20 Grandchildren, 49 Great Grandchildren, 9 great great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, Harold Gilbert and Elna Wood, brother Richard Harold Wood, sister Marilyn Wood Freshwater, and son Steven Robert Wood.
Special thanks go to the Intermountain IHC for their care of our father.
