Clayne Vernal Benson, 78, passed away Wednesday, October 9, 2014 of a short illness at his home in Logan, UT surrounded by his family. He was born September 19, 1936 in Newton, UT to Hazen and Mary Thompson Benson. He married Sue Cox on February 19, 1960 in the Logan LDS temple. He served a Western States LDS mission where he learned his love of teaching. He graduated from Utah State University with a degree in education. He was a school teacher with the Cache County School District for 35 years. He was an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints where he served many callings. He truly loved the gospel and had a strong testimony of the Savior. He loved his wife and enjoyed traveling and spending the winter months in Yuma, AZ.He is survived by his wife and four daughters, Darla (Paul) Barber of Brigham City, Lori (Ray) Peterson of Petersboro, Debbie (Chuck) Weaver of Taylorsville and Shelly (James) Williams of Brigham City. He has 19 grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren. He is also survived by 3 brothers and 1 sister; Kay, Garth and Myron Benson of Newton and Jaleen Mackey of Hyrum. He was preceded in death by his parents and two infant brothers. A viewing will be held on Sunday Oct. 12, 2014 from 6:00 – 8:00 pm at the Meadowbrook LDS church; 993 W 10th S, Logan, UTFuneral services will be held October 13, 2014 at 11:00am.
