David Lee Hoth

David Lee Hoth, our beloved brother, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather, passed away October 23th, 2022 at the age of 74, of natural causes.
David was born in Logan, Utah on October 10, 1948 to Ariel and Thelma Hoth. He had 2 brothers Robert and Stephen Hoth and 1 sister (his twin) Joyce McGrath.
He graduated from Logan High School in 1966. He served a mission for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints in Arizona. He had the opportunity to serve many ethnicities and loved them all.
He met and married Vicky Balls on June 9, 1972, in the Logan Temple. They had 7 children Amy, Chris, John, Josh, Nick, Alexandria, and Ashley. They were later divorced.
He attended and graduated from USU in May of 1973 in Math. He later also received an Engineering degree. He worked as the manager of Smith Brothers Lumber Company, Facilities Maintenance for the The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, and in his later year as a handyman.
As a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, David served for over 40 years in the scouting program. He especially loved teaching the boys, camping, and earning his wood badge beads.
At the time of his passing he was serving as a temple worker in the Logan Temple. He liked to say he had 5 days to fish and 2 days to serve the Lord.
One of his greatest joys was staying in touch with his children and grandchildren by having monthly family dinners, camping, fishing, and storytelling.
David is preceded in death by his parents, brother Stephen Hoth, daughter Alexandria Hoth, and grandson Hayden Hoth. David is survived by his siblings Robert (Diana )Hoth, Joyce (Mike) McGrath, and Sister-in-Law Vicki Hoth. His children Amy(Dave)Wood, Chris(Cherie)Hoth, John Hoth, Josh(Ashley)Hoth, Nick(Kathy) Hoth, and Ashley Macedo, 20 grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren, and many nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, October 29th at 11 a.m. at the Smithfield North Stake Center located at 155 West 400 North in Smithfield. A viewing will be held that morning from 9:30-10:30 a.m. at the church. A viewing will also be held October 28th from 6-8 p.m. at Cache Valley Mortuary located at 80 West 4200 North Hyde Park, UT. Burial will be in the Smithfield Cemetery. Messages may be sent to the family online at www.cvmortuary.com .
