Dean Milton Green

Dean Milton Green, a resident of Redlands from 1959 through 2005, died at his home in Smithfield Utah surrounded by his wife and seven children on Saturday, Oct. 10. He was 84.Survivors include his wife, Marcia, along with seven children, including Laura Brown (Obrey), of Beaumont, Calif.; Melanie Herrmann (David), of Smithfield; Amy Gatherum (Gary) of Boise, Idaho; Holly Cole (Jesse), of Scobey, Montana; Whitney Green, of Cottonwood Heights, Utah; Meredith Smith, of Logan, Utah; and Breniman Green (Emilee), of Dallas, Texas.Other survivors include a sister, Jeannie Sherman of Idaho Falls, two brothers, Bruce Green, of Salt Lake City, and Robert Green, of Idaho Falls.He is also survived by 25 grandchildren and one great grandchild.Green was one of six children of Daniel Clark and Annie May Grover Green, born in Pocatello, Idaho on Jan. 13, 1931. He was a Korean War Veteran from the early 1950s.Following his graduation from college, Idaho State University, and Brigham Young University, he later received a Doctorate of Education from USC.Green had settled in Redlands with his wife in 1959.Upon his arrival in Redlands, Green began working for the Redlands Unified School District as a history teacher at Cope Junior High School and later at Redlands High School. He became an assistant principal at RHS, retiring in 1992.Green was devoted to his church, the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, where he served as Bishop for Redlands First Ward, stake Executive Secretary and, eventually, in the San Bernardino East Stake Presidency under President Donald L. Hansen and then President Evan F. Skeen.After retirement from public education, Green served, along with his wife, in various missionary capacities, ranging to distant locations, including Detroit, Mich., Mississippi-Louisiana, Des Moines, Iowa and locally with the Riverside Mission.Grandchildren: Danny Brown (Sara), Kelli Brown, Chet Brown, Chelsea Herrmann, Melissa Jane Herrmann (deceased), Nick Herrmann, Tessa Elder (Dallas), Isaac Herrmann, Isabelle Herrmann, Graeme Gatherum, Grey Gatherum, Quincey Cole, Emma Cole, Hugh Cole, Wick Cole, Max Cole, Ivy Cole, Abigail Smith, Oliver Smith, Tate Smith, Mack Smith, Holland Smith, Daphne Green, Aidan Green, Sophie Green, Asher Green.
