Deborah Gandy Pugmire-Roice peacefully passed away with her daughter Stephanie by her side on March 4, 2025, at her home in Logan, Utah.
Deborah was born on October 21, 1949, in Salt Lake City, Utah, to Klienman M. Gandy and Agnes Walters.
Deborah grew up in Bountiful, Utah with her four sisters: Cynthia, Rebecca, Marsha, and Robyn.
Deborah attended elementary and middle schools in Bountiful, Utah, and graduated from Viewmont High School in May 1969.
Deborah married Gordon L. Pugmire on May 9, 1970. They were sealed for all time and eternity on May 9, 1979, in the Salt Lake City, Utah Temple.
Deborah and Gordon have three children and raised their family in Utah and Wyoming.
Deborah and Gordon eventually divorced, and she later met Kenneth G. Roice. Deborah and Kenneth were married in Logan, Utah on April 28, 2012.
Deborah had worked for JC Penny, Dillards, and the Jackson Hole Airport.
Deborah was an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. Deborah served in various callings and was joyful to have a current temple recommend. Deborah’s faith and belief in Jesus Christ was always important to her. During Deborah’s final days on earth, she was most comforted when she was listening to audio scriptures or church hymns.
Deborah was very talented with tole painting, drawing, and as a seamstress. Deborah always enjoyed making dresses for her granddaughters, custom pillowcases for her friends, and quilts with her sisters.
Deborah had an affinity for Southern culture and loved going to South Carolina and spending time with family. Most people knew her as Miz Debby. Whenever Deborah would talk about the South, she always reverted to a Southern drawl and would laugh and smile when people would point it out.
Deborah was an excellent home decorator and cook. Deborah thoroughly enjoyed any opportunity to change or update a room, or a whole house, with new décor or “knickknacks”. When the family would come to visit, Deborah would always have food prepared and usually had chicken-and-rice or a pound cake to share.
Deborah is survived by her husband, Kenneth G. Roice; daughter Stephanie Cannon (Curt) of Victor, Idaho; daughter Collette James (Jimmy) of Anchorage, Alaska; son David Pugmire (Cynthia) of Clarkston, Utah. Deborah has 10 grandchildren, 8 great grandchildren, and 3 granddaughters-in-law. Deborah is also survived by her 4 sisters.
Deborah was preceded in death by her parents, Kleinman M Gandy and Agnes Walters.
Deborah wished not to have a funeral and requested to only have a graveside service.
Services for Deborah will be held on March 8, 2025, at 11:00 in the Memorial Lakeview Mortuary and Cemetery (1640 Lakeview Dr. Bountiful, Utah). Funeral arrangements are provided by the Cache Valley Mortuary in Hyde Park, Utah.
Deborah’s family would like to thank the many family, friends, and hospice workers that provided many hours of service to Deborah and helped her to be comfortable and happy.
Special thanks are given to Primrose Hospice and Home Care, and Assisting Hands. The dedication of the nursing and aide staff to help Deborah during this time made Deborah’s final time on earth more pleasurable and peaceful for her and her family.
