Dennis Robert Braatz
June 30 1947 to February 20, 2025
Our brother, Dennis Robert Braatz, took hold of Jesus hand, and was taken to his Heavenly Home. It was a peaceful passing, at home, on Thursday, February 20, 2025.
Dennis was 77. He was born June 30, 1947 in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, to the Earl and Elizabeth Braatz. They lived in Milwaukee for about a year, and moved back to Winona, Minnesota. In 1960 the family of six moved to Santa Ana, California. Dennis had three siblings.
Some family and friends called him Denny. He attended a school for special education and graduated from LaQuinta High School in Westminister, CA in 1966.
Dennis worked at a restaurant for years until it closed. He worked at a center in Orange, CA for people with disabilities. In 1999 Dennis, his mother, sister, and brother moved to North Logan, UT. He worked at Summit School in Smithfield until he retired in 2010. In spring, summer and fall Dennis would be outside working in the yard. He enjoyed sports, Football, Baseball, Basket Ball and Ice Hockey, either watching on TV or going to the games with his Brother LeRoy. Dennis also liked to go bowling. He enjoyed working on Jigsaw Puzzles, starting at 1000 pieces to 3000 pieces. Denny also enjoyed music from Classic oldies to Rock and Roll especially Paul Revere and the Raiders. Dennis was a member of the Holy Trinity Lutheran Church in Logan.
Our brother Frank said that Denny was a quiet gentle giant and enjoyed being with his family. Dennis was preceded in death by his parents, Earl and Elizabeth, aunts, uncles and cousins. Dennis is survived by his sister, Shirley, and brothers LeRoy, Franklin (Genie) of Preston, ID, family pet, Isabella, nieces, nephews, and cousins living in Arizona, California, Nevada, Minnesota, Wisconsin and Illinois.
We would like to say “Thank You” to Cache County Intermountain Hospice team members for taking care of Dennis and helping the family. Also thanks to Cache Valley Mortuary.
The family is planning a memorial service, and will be taking Dennis back to Winona, Minnesota to be buried next to his parents.
