Earl Gary Thompson, 84, of Clarkston Utah peacefully passed away Monday August 12, 2019 at his home in Clarkston. Gary was born January 22, 1935 in Logan Utah to Earl McLynn Thompson and Anna Clark Thompson. He had a wonderful childhood growing up with many cousins and friends. He attended Clarkston Elementary School, North Cache High School and Utah State University. He enjoyed sports and played catcher on his high school baseball team. He married Nancy Jane Jorgensen in the Logan Temple on June 24, 1955. They were blessed with three children, Trudy (Jeff) Ballard, Chad (Kennie) Thompson, Angela (Blain) Housley, twelve grandchildren and sixteen great grandchildren.
Gary loved farming and was an excellent mechanic. He was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints and was able to serve a mission with his wife in Tennessee. He loved his mission and made many lifelong friends. Later they served a mission at the Conference Center on Temple Square in Salt Lake City and worked at the Logan Temple.
Gary is survived by his wife Nancy and their children. He was preceded in death by his parents and an older brother, Lynn, who died in early childhood.
A viewing will be held on Friday August 16, 2019 at the Clarkston Ward Chapel from 7:00pm to 9:00pm and Saturday August 17, from 9:00am to 10:30am. Funeral Services will be held Saturday August 17, 2019 in the Clarkston Ward Chapel at 11:00am under the direction of Cache Valley Mortuary. Burial will be in the Clarkston city cemetery.
