Ivan Marion Stauffer

November 12, 1943 — March 18, 2025

Hyrum, Utah

Ivan was born on November 12th 1943 in Logan Utah to Marion Lewis Stauffer and Martha Mae Stauffer. He passed away on the 18th of March, 2025 peacefully at his home in Hyrum, Ut from lung and liver cancer and heart complications.

Ivan grew up In Logan where he attended Wilson elementary, Logan Jr. High, and Logan High School. At the age of 17 Ivan joined his father, grandfather, and other family members in the Brick mason trade where he continued to work throughout his life until he retired. He was always proud to take family members around and show them all the many buildings he helped work on in Cache valley and other close by communities. He was also the owner of Ike’s Automotive in Hyrum for a number of years where he fixed everything from toasters and lawnmowers to cars and trucks. He could fix just about anything. After retirement, he became a part time shuttle driver for Ensign Toyota. For years he drove the shuttle around and loved meeting new people and talking their ears off as he drove them to wherever they needed to go.

Ivan met Arlene Huffaker in Hyrum, Utah in the spring of 1960. They were married later that year on September 2nd in Salt Lake City, Utah. Their marriage was solemnized in the Logan, Utah LDS temple on February 14th, 1975.

Ivan had a lifelong interest in cars, trains, and really anything mechanical. He could often be found in his “hut” tinkering with slot cars, collectible trains, and anything else that needed to be worked on. His kids and grandkids and friends and neighbors would bring him broken items that sometimes seemed beyond repair but he would somehow manage to get them in working order again. He made a go cart that was a family favorite and would oftentimes buy old bikes and fix them up and paint them and give them to the grandkids. He was a kid at heart his whole life.

He loved spending time with his family. Vacations, Camping trips, and even just long drives and exploring nature have made for many memorable experiences over the years. He and Arlene enjoyed evening walks every night with their fur babies, Daisy and Gabe. Ivan and Arlene lovingly referred to them as their adult children's “younger siblings”

Ivan was preceded in death by his parents, sisters, Donna and Arlene, and 2 great grandsons. He is survived by his wife, Arlene, his daughters Tracy (Farzin) Ziae, Tammy (Kenneth) Macdonald, Tery (Kevin) Hepworth, Telsy (Matt) Ward and a son Tony (Paula) Stauffer, Brother Michael (Julie) Stauffer, Brother in law Rod Crosby, 19 grandchildren and 28 great grandchildren.
