James Stewart Gill

The love of my heart and the man I adored left my side and this earthly life on September 14, 2013 surrounded by many of his friends and family.SMITHFIELD — James Stewart Gill was born November 15, 1946 in Grand Junction, CO. to Gene Stewart and Julia Irma Gill. Jim was part of a large, fun-loving family of 28 Aunts and Uncles, 53 cousins, and 6 brothers and a sister. Jim lived in Colorado and Utah, where he met his first wife, Marie Hamberlin. They were married and later divorced, but he was blessed with three wonderful children; Gene Clayton, April Celeste, and Julia Veniece and a stepson, Tony Meier. He was an attentive father to all of them. Jim always felt he couldn’t do enough for his children. In May of 2007 he found and married the love of his heart, Karen Strong Jepsen, at which time he inherited four more children; Jessica, Kyle, Derek, and Ashley. Altogether he had 11 grandchildren who were the light and joy of his life.Jim entered basic training for the United States Navy, at the Naval Training Center in San Diego, CA. in 1966. He loved driving and going to different places, and traveled the western states attending family reunions. He fulfilled his wish of traveling east of CO. on a road trip to Louisiana.Jim was preceded in death by his father.
