Jean Lauritzen Steele

October 18, 1946 — October 21, 2023

Jean Steele passed away peacefully surrounded by family on October 21, 2023 at Logan Regional Hospital. She was born in Tooele, Utah on October 18, 1946. She was proceeded in death by her mother, Joyce Checketts Call and her stepfather, Clarance Call.
Jean married Charles Robert Steele in the Logan Temple on June 25, 1965. Together they had four children: Teresa Diamond, Tracey Steele (Bonnie), Trudy Steele, & Tiffany Bailey (Tim). One of her favorite things in life was being a grandmother to seven grandchildren: Tawsha Hubbard (Marcus), Charazade Steele, Duncan Steele, David Flint (Jessica), Aaron Bailey (Kierstin), Jonathan Bailey, and Madisen Bailey (D'angelo). As well as 5 great-grandchildren.
Jean graduated from Logan High School in 1964 and enjoyed playing the clarinet in the marching band. She enjoyed the arts. She had an amazing knack for anything that was artistic. She did everything from woodworking to poetry. She could pick something up and succeed almost immediately. She left behind many oil and wax paintings. She was a talented poet who enjoyed writing poetry with and for her grandchildren. She also made amazing lace pieces with her tatting and made all her grandchildren warm and cozy quilts and afghans.
She loved genealogy and did a huge extraction project with the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints before everything was computerized. She would transcribe huge boxes of index cards on the computer and could type 150+ wpm. She was also immensely proud that she started her own travel agency and stamp business. She was always plotting something. She will be greatly missed!
