Jeffrey Bill McDermott, 53, of Cedar City, Utah passed away Sunday, August 14, 2016. Jeff was born March 25, 1963, in Preston, Idaho to Lew and Zenda (Smith) McDermott. Jeff excelled in athletics and carpentry, wore cowboy boots since birth, and was spoiled rotten by eight older siblings. He attended West Side High School and served a LDS mission to New Zealand. While in New Zealand, he fell in love with the close family unit of the culture and brought it back to the states by having six beautiful children with Dani Johnson who he married in 1986 and stayed married for 28 years. Jeff could put a smile on anyone's face and would not take no for an answer when it came to having a bowl of ice-cream or a laugh. Jeff could be found riding his horse, Roy, with dogs in tow or tinkering in his barn until late into the night. Jeff looked forward to the day when he could hold grand-kids of his own and verged on the point of being a Dog/Horse Whisperer. He was a great friend to all and will be missed dearly.Jeff is survived by his beloved children: Breanna (Blake) Sanchez; Collin (Maele) McDermott; Reagan (Chandler) Banks; Gavin McDermott; and Keaton McDermott. He is also survived by seven siblings: Bonnie (Melvin) Ball; Marilyn (Dick) Swainston; Reta (Bob) Halverson; Mike (Meridee) McDermott; Nadine (Craig) Mangus; Casey (Charlie); Brenda (Jeff) Gunderson and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, Lew and Zenda; a sister, Colleen; a sister in law, Cindy; and an infant daughter, Lindsay. Funeral services are under the direction of Cache Valley Mortuary. A viewing will be held Saturday August 20, 2016 in the Clifton LDS Church from 10:30 – 11:30 with a Funeral Service to follow at Noon, burial will follow in the Clifton Cemetery.
