Jerold “Jerry” Dean Bench born August 30, 1941, passed away Wednesday, March 29, 2023. He was born the youngest of five children to George Thomas and Blanche Ricks Bench in Logan, UT.
Jerry had a long history of service to his country and community. Serving first in the United States Air Force and then for 28 years, earning the rank of Lieutenant, with Logan City Police Department. Jerry didn't slow down after retirement but instead spent 15 years as a camp host in Cache National Forest.
Jerry enjoyed hunting, fishing, hiking, and campfires. He had a passion for history and genealogy. In his free time, Jerry enjoyed riding in the canyon, taking care of his home, working in the yard ,or sitting by a fire telling stories or debating politics.
Jerry married Sandra McCauley and they had two children, Darren, and Megan. He was also a father to stepdaughters Melissa and Melanie.
He is survived by his son Darren and his wife Lolousi; his daughter Megan Clyde; Grandchildren Kaylub, Mason, Hannah, Marcus, and Taylor; his stepdaughters Melissa Johnson and Melanie Trisler and four step-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, older siblings Thomas, Annabelle, Wallace, and Delray.
A Celebration of Life will be held at Cache Valley Mortuary, 80 W. 4200 N., Hyde Park, UT on Wednesday, April 12, 2023, at 12:00 p.m. A Graveside service will follow at the Logan City Cemetery.
