Joseph "Boyd" Smith

Joseph Boyd Smith, also known as “Smitty,” 79 passed away peacefully in his home on May 25th, 2016. He was born to Joseph Norris and Eva Bradly Smith on December 3rd, 1936 in Paradise UT. Boyd spent his childhood in Paradise, and attended school at South Cache and he continued to care for the family farm after his fathers passing.Boyd met and married his sweetheart Katherine ReNee Marble on August 6th, 1959 in the Logan temple. Together they had four children, Sherrie Jo Smith, Chuck (Lori) Smith, Jody (Bruce) Smith and Marla Fredrickson.Boyd worked in farming and ranching most of his life. He took great pride in his roles as town sheriff, loved riding horses and driving his tractor. He enjoyed hunting with his family, spending time with grandkids, and relaxing on the porch waiving at passerby’s. Boyd is survived by his wife ReNee, sister Barbara Datwhyler, 3 children, 12 grandchildren, and 8 great-grandchildren. He is preceeded in death by his parents, sisters JoLynn and Mary, Brother Tom and infant brother, as well as daughter Sherri Jo.A special thanks to the emergency responders, neighbors and close friends who have helped look after Boyd in the past years and especially towards the end of his life. A viewing will be held at the Paradise 3rd Ward church on Monday May 30th, from 6-8pm, as well as Tuesday May 31st from 9:30-10:30am. A graveside service to follow at 11am at the Paradise City Cemetery.
