Kay Hazen Benson

Kay Hazen Benson, 88, of Newton, Utah passed away Tuesday March 8, 2016. Kay was born October 6, 1927 to Hazen E. and Mary Caroline Thompson Benson in Logan, Utah. Kay received his education in the Cache County School district then enlisted in the US Navy in 1945. Married Beverly Ann Jones in 1948 but were later divorced. Six children were born from this union: Lloyd (Chris) Benson, Sharron (Ken) Barnum, Tammara (Mark) Beckman, Steven Benson, Todd (Robin) Michaelis, and Randy Michaelis. Kay then married Carolyn Whipple in 1975 and lived in Las Vegas until 1988, then returned to Newton to retire. Kay is preceded in death by his parents, and brother- Clayne Benson. Survived by sister Jeleen Mackey and brothers Myron (May) Benson, Garth Benson and sister-in-law Sue Benson and numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren.Viewing will be Friday, March 11 from 6-8pm, also Saturday March 12 from 10:30-11:30 am at the Newton 1st Ward Chapel with the funeral services to follow at noon. Interment in the Newton Cemetery.
