Kyle Jed Ransom
Aug 25, 1954-Nov 12, 2022

Jed Ransom, 68, left his earthly life surrounded by his wife and children on Nov. 12 at McKay Dee Hospital from complications due to surgical infection and respiratory failure.

Jed was a gentle giant with an infectious smile, a great sense of humor, the “Ransom Charm”, and a servant’s heart. Jed loved his children fiercely. He was a man of few words, but to know him was to love him.

Jed married the love of his life Karalee on August 15th, 1997.
Jed was a fun-loving man and enjoyed the simple things in life; being surrounded by his family, getting lost on long car rides, golfing, breakfast at Angie’s, watching his grandkids play sports, and loving on his dogs. Jed also loved his great neighbors and friends of Newton.
Jed spent over 40 years serving the nation driving truck after his time serving in the Army.

Jed was preceded in death by his Father Kyle Ransom and Mother Pauline Hutchison Ransom.
He is survived by his wife Karalee, children; Christopher (Janet) Ransom, Heather Ransom White, Dustin (Lindsay) Ransom and Jake (Ashley) Rindlisbaker. Jed has 8 treasured grandchildren; Clayton, Owen, Zander, Zoie, Kyler, Beckett, Jackson and Ryker.
Siblings, Paula (Curt) Mason, and JD (Liz) Ransom.

“When we lose someone we love
we must learn not to live without them,
but to live with the love they left behind.”

Epitaph by Merrit Malloy

When I die
Give what’s left of me away
To children
And old men that wait to die.

And if you need to cry,
Cry for your brother
Walking the street beside you.
And when you need me,
Put your arms
Around anyone
And give them
What you need to give to me.

I want to leave you something,
Something better
Than words
Or sounds.

Look for me
In the people I’ve known
Or loved,
And if you cannot give me away,
At least let me live on in your eyes
And not your mind.

You can love me most
By letting
Hands touch hands,
By letting bodies touch bodies,
And by letting go
Of children
That need to be free.

Love doesn’t die,
People do.
So, when all that’s left of me
Is love,
Give me away.
