Lawrence Wennergren

March 16, 1957 — July 24, 2018

Lawrence Newell Wennergren 61 of Logan, Utah, died following an extended illness Tuesday, July 24, 2018, at Logan Nursing & Rehabilitation Center. He was born in Logan LDS Hospital on March 16, 1957, the fourth of five sons of John A. and Ethel Mae Crookston Wennergren. He graduated from Gonzales High School (California) in 1976 and served a mission for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in the Arkansas Little Rock Mission from 1977-79.Larry earned a bachelor's degree from the University of Phoenix after attending Hartnell College, the University of Utah and Westminster College. He spent his working life as a banker with Zions Bank, WestOne Bank, Guardian State Bank, First Commerce Bank and Logan City Employees Credit Union. He was an active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and served in many callings. Larry especially loved teaching Gospel Doctrine in various wards and working in the temple. He also served in Sea Scouts.He is survived by three brothers, John (Mindy) Wennergren, Kenneth (Patricia) Wennergren and Thomas Wennergren; four children, Thomas (Bree) Wennergren, Jessica (Dustin) Mitchell (and their mother Peggy), Mariah Wennergren and Benjamin Wennergren (and their mother Terri); and four grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents in 2011 and his brother Michael in 2014.A viewing will take place from 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Saturday at the LDS chapel at 94 W. 600 South, in Logan, Utah, followed by a brief memorial service at 1 p.m. Larry will be interred at Logan City Cemetery.In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to the American Diabetes Association.
