Leonarda was greatly blessed and loved by all that knew her. She was born in Agualilla, Michoacan, Mexico on January 7, 1938. She passed away comfortably in her Nibley home, surrounded by her loving family on April 27, 2023. Leonarda was blessed with a large posterity and will be greatly missed by her family and all those that had the opportunity to know her.
Leonarda was married in 1956 to Ramon Hernandez Diaz in Mexico. She was married to Ramon for 22 years and they had 11 children together before he passed away in June of 1978. Shortly after Ramon's passing, she decided to move to the United States and brought some of her children at that time. Everyone worked hard, saved money and did everything they could to bring the rest of her family to the United States.
Leonarda was brave, strong and persistent in having her family all together. This is something to be grateful for. She had so much love for her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren (over 170 in her posterity and counting). She left her print on everyone that she had the opportunity to be around. She is someone that truly is unforgettable. She left us with so many good memories. Now, of all the things she used to say to us doesn't seem so bad, we take light of the situation and remember her for her honesty.
If we can learn anything from this loss, it is that we accept each other for who we are, everyone has flaws, nobody is perfect and we should forgive each other even if we ever felt offended by one another, because we never know if we'll get the chance to say our last goodbye or give that last hug.
We were fortunate enough to have the time with grandma Leonarda and now she wants us to continue to be together and united as a family that we are. This isn't a goodbye, rather a
"see you soon!" May you rest in peace. We love and miss you, Leonarda!
We also want to give a sincere thanks to all of the healthcare and hospice professionals for their wonderful care and assistance. We also thank the funeral staff for their care and helping to guide us during this difficult time.
A viewing and rosary service was held on Sunday, April 30, 2023 at the Cache Valley Mortuary from 2 to 6 pm.
Leonarda will be taken to Idaho Falls, Idaho on Tuesday, May 2, 2023 for a Funeral Mass church service at Christ the King (1690 East 17th Street) at 10:00 am.
The internment will follow at the Fielding Memorial Cemetery, Idaho Falls, Idaho.
