Roy was born March 1938 to Walter I. and Nellie McGugin in Independence, Kansas.
He passed away from congestive heart failure on Oct. 23, 2022.
He married Annalee Peterson on June13, 1959 in Memory Grove in Salt Lake City.
After graduating from Davis High School, he was employed by Hercules/ATK and retired after 34 years.
His true passion was raising and racing thoroughbred horses, Winning at every track where he competed.
He loved life and worked hard every moment. He always had a project to do. Roy loved growing up in Davis County in the 1940’s and 50’s, fishing, hunting and riding his bike. He is an eagle scout and loved that life.
He is survived by his wife Annalee of 63 years and three wonderful children. Sons Kelly (Holly), Matthew (Tina) and daughter Ronda (Mark Burningham), He is also survived by 17 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren, his sisters Shirley Gutke and Lois Leatham of Salt Lake City.
There will be a visitation for family Saturday, October 29 followed by cremation at his request.
