Lucy LaVell Williams Hampton, 87, of Lewiston, Utah, passed away Thursday, September 28,2017 in her home surrounded by her loving family. She was born to loving parents, Floyd and Ethel Williams at home January 6, 1930. Lucy LaVell was the youngest of four children and their only daughter. She loved growing up on the farm. Lucy LaVell was fortunate enough to live through the great depression without even knowing it was happening. Her Parents taught her to live off the land and to raise animals. She graduated High School with a full ride singing scholarship to Brigham Young University. She was married shortly after graduation and had four children, Jan Newby (Ron), Ladell Hampton (Joanne), Nancy Casias Robert), Rich Hampton (Kathy). She worked hard as a single mother at the LDS Church Office Building at the Genealogy Department. Lucy LaVell loved to teach little children to sing, she was among the first to teach the song “I am a Child of God”. After early retirement, Lucy LaVell moved home to live out her days in her childhood home. She is survived by her children, 22 Grandchildren, 32 Great Grandchildren, and one fluffy white dog, Hyacinth, who adored her. Lucy LaVell loved all visitors; she never let anyone leave without copious amounts of candy in their pockets. Everyone around knew that if you visited, you had to visit every candy jar, and they were always full! She is preceded in death by her parents, brothers Alvin, Paul, and Vernal Williams. A viewing will be held on Wednesday Oct 4, 2017 from 9:30 AM – 11:30 AM with a Funeral Service at 12 Noon at (16 South Main Lewiston).
