Lyle Grant Ballard, 68, of Hyrum, passed away peacefully in his home on Saturday, September 16, 2017 surrounded by loved ones. Lyle was born in Logan on February 27, 1949 to George O. Ballard and Madge B. Ballard. He was their third child. Lyle was raised on the family farm in Cache Junction, Utah. He attended Newton Elementary, Smithfield Jr. High, and graduated from Sky View High School in 1967. Lyle was an active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. He fulfilled a mission to Italy and England. In August 1970 he married Karen E. Harris, having 6 children together. They later divorced. He served in the National Guard Army Reserves for 7 years. He married Pamela Olson on April 16, 1992. She had 4 children that he helped to raise, and in March of 1996, they added one more! They were able to celebrate 25 years of marriage and were sealed on August 19, 2017 in the Logan Temple. Together they helped to raise 11 children. Lyle had many talents, one of which was connecting with people wherever he worked or lived. He could always make a connection, and as a result he has made many friends during his travels. He worked at a variety of places although his favorite was driving the Snow Cat and grooming trails at Hyrum State Park. He always had great stories to share about his adventures on the mountain. He worked for Thiokol in Corrine, UT, Schwans in Cedar City and Logan, working several years in the Logan area. He then worked security at ATK in Corrine and most recently worked for Price Containers. He was so appreciative of their kindness, generosity, and support as he battled with pancreatic cancer for the last 6 years. Lyle was also a member of the Hyrum Volunteer Fire Department.Lyle is preceded in death by his parents, his sister, George Ann, and sister in law Josie Ballard. He is survived by his spouse, Pam Ballard; brother, Brent Ballard; children, Carmen (Todd) Sorenson; Josh (Cheri) Ballard; MaRee (Trent) Carter; Judd Ballard; Mandy (Mike) Beutler; Bonny (Jason) Butler; Brandon (Michelle) Jones; Jessica Jones; Brynanne (Trevor) Williams; Kari (Stephen) Yeoman; Jordan Ballard; 29 grandchildren and 6 great grandchildren. Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Cache Valley Mortuary. (435)787-8514. A viewing and funeral will be held at Hyrum North Stake Center, 245 N 750 E, Hyrum. The viewing will be held on Thursday, September 21st 6-8pm and Friday, September 22nd 10-11:30am preceding the funeral at noon. Interment will be at Hyrum City Cemetery. The family would like to thank Cache Valley for Hope and the tender care of Intermountain Home Care and Hospice for all that they did to support and care for Lyle and the family at this difficult time.
