Margaret Elena Nelson Bailey
Of Smithfield, Utah and formerly Blackfoot, Idaho. Age 70 ended her battle with cancer on Nov. 17, 2018. She was born at Station Hospital at the Navajo Ordinance Depot, Flagstaff, Arizona; to Lloyd and Eris Jackson Nelson. She married Lee M. Bailey in the Salt Lake LDS Temple in 1969. She was an educator for 20 years teaching 1st, 2nd, 3rd, and 4th grades.
Margaret’s love of writing poetry and children’s literature were always a source of joy to her. Her life revolved around a family of five sons. Travis Lee, Aaron S. (Cathy), Burke Ryan, Drew Barton Bailey and Zed Anja Sonder. She is also survived by her husband Lee M. Bailey and their grandchildren: Connor, Dakota, Jace, Aspyn, and Swayd. Her mother Eris Jackson Swapp, siblings: Charmon Crozier, Lexianne Swapp, Estella Jensen (Paul), Debbie Staples (Brent), A. Matthew Swapp (Ana) and many nieces and nephews. Her sister and brother in-laws, Margot & Adrian Young, Becky & Dale Wall, and Patricia Bailey.
She had wonderful friends throughout her life who brought her great joy and comfort. The book club she attended, the Relief Society service, the community service and the friends at school. She names each of them in the many journals she kept. Hers was a life well lived. Her last words of advice to her family was “Please live your life the best you can, with love, and don’t be too hard on yourself or others.” We will miss the bright joy she brought to our lives, her wonderful laugh and her great sense of humor.
The memorial service will be November 25th @ 5pm  at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints 600 S 625 E Smithfield, UT 84335
