Cokeville, Wyoming– Our beloved mother and grandmother, Margaret Alley McKinnon, 80, passed away on March 21, 2024 in Logan, Utah.
Margaret was born on November 15th, 1943 in Logan, Utah to Gerald and Evelyn Alley. She
grew up on a ranch on the East side of Bear Lake in Laketown, Utah. She was the oldest of 12 children. She enjoyed the outdoors and caring for animals. Margaret had an especially close relationship with her grandmother, Pearlina Alley.
In October of 1960, Margaret married Elwin McKinnon and started a family. Her life was
centered around raising her children and ranching. Over the years, she moved with her family to different ranches before settling down on a ranch South of Cokeville, Wyoming. Margaret took much pleasure in caring for her family as they worked hard to run their ranch. She always had good, hot meals prepared for them even when she had to load the food in the truck and take it out to where they were working. Margaret made the most delicious rolls.
Watching her children compete in sports and rodeos was a favorite activity of hers. She was later
divorced, and as her children grew up, she moved off the ranch and eventually ended up living in Logan, Utah. Bear Lake held a special place in her heart, and she loved to spend time there along with picking and eating sweet Bear Lake raspberries. Margaret loved spending time with her children and grandchildren. She loved hearing what her grandkids were doing and seeing pictures of them.
Margaret loved telling stories about her life and making people laugh. She had an infectious laugh
that made the stories even funnier. Margaret had a kind and generous heart. She took a lot of pride in remembering everyone’s birthdays, sending cards, and giving gifts. Visitors never left her house without a gift. She had a soft spot for anyone in need and always tried to help.
She is survived by her children: Morrell (Rosalie) McKinnon, Monte (RaNae) McKinnon, Shar
McKinnon, Shane (Stephanie) McKinnon, Lisa McKinnon, Justin (Jamie) McKinnon, Georganna
McKinnon, Travis McKinnon, Julie (Alex) Sasouda, 21 grandchildren, and 3 great grandchildren.
She is preceded in death by her daughter,Deidra, her parents, one sister, and four brothers.
We wish to express our thanks for the loving care given to mom by her caregivers at
Williamsburg Retirement Community and Atlas Homecare and Hospice. We are also grateful to
Margaret’s friends, the town of Cokeville, and the surrounding communities for the love and support they gave to her over the years.
