Mark Berry

February 1, 1936 — September 17, 2023

Mark Berry of Paradise Utah passed on September 17, 2023 after a short bout with cancer. He was 87.

Mark was born February 1, 1936 in his family home in Paradise Utah. He passed not far from that very home. Although he started and ended in the same place he lived a life far beyond his upbringing.

He joked that his family was so poor they couldn’t afford a middle name for him. Like many people in the area at that time he worked at White’s Trout Farm. He later started to drywall. After he was married and had a family he studied and eventually became an Electrical Contractor. In his retirement he returned to the White family as their go-to guy for anything he could help with.

Mark served in the US Army and was deployed to Germany. He didn’t learn much German but he liked to use the 3 words he did know. He enjoyed sharing his stories, his silly jokes as well as his philosophy on many subjects. He loved to get kids stirred up and was at those times a kid himself.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Joseph and Verda Berry, his siblings Marilyn, Carlyle, Miles and Scott. He leaves behind his sister Judy Elwood from Colorado and his son Ronald Berry from Puerto Vallarta Mexico. He has extended family and friends that include Darlene (Tony) Woolf of Paradise, David (Jenny) Berry in Deer Park Washington. Sometimes the lines between friends and family blur. Mark will also be missed by Felicia Garcia, her daughter Luz Vargas-Garcia from Indiana and long time friend Grant White also from Paradise along with many friends too numerous to name.

A celebration of Mark’s life will be on October 19, 2023 at the Sportsman’s Paradise clubhouse. The address is 750 West 8700 South in Paradise, Utah. More information can be found on their website.

Mark lived a full and varied life. He wasn’t a world traveler but he was worldly minded. His small town roots were deep but not defining. In his retirement he loved spending his time with the White family at the Sportsman’s Paradise clubhouse. There was a constant stream of people he could socialize with and entertain by regaling about his life in Paradise.
