Marlow Edward Elbert, 91, left this earth surrounded by family September 9, 2024, from natural causes. Marlow was born June 27, 1933, in Los Angeles, CA to Charles Edward and Emma Winterowd Elbert. He attended Manual Arts High School where he excelled in track and field. After high school, Marlow went to work for Moore Business Forms as a pressman. After working there for three years, he took a leave of absence to join the Army during the Korean War. He proudly served his country in the Honor Guard from
1953-1955. Upon returning from service, he returned to his job and met the love of his life, Darlene Ingle. They were married August 18, 1956. They were married for 62 years before Darlene’s passing in 2018. In 1967, they moved to Logan, UT, with a host of other families, to open the Moore Business Forms plant (now RR Donnelly) where he retired after 42 years in 1992. Marlow loved to hunt, fish, camp, travel, snow mobile, and four-wheel. He spent numerous hours in Logan Canyon and Bear Lake.
Marlow is survived by his sons, Kurt (Kelly) and Glen, three grandchildren, Derek, Garrett, and Charlie Jo as well as three great-grandchildren Grace, Jack, and Max. He loved his grand and great grandchildren very much. He enjoyed making lots of memories with them.
Marlow was preceded in death by his parents, spouse (Darlene), sister (Judy), and son (Brian).
Marlow is best known by his grandchildren as Doodles. This name was given to him by his eldest grandson, Derek. When he was little while Grandma Darlene was watching him, Derek would sit at the counter having a snack when Marlow returned home from work. Marlow would always say, “Hi Doodles! What’s happening?” One day, Derek called him Doodles before he could say it and the name stuck. Doodles will be missed every day by those he left behind.
The family would like to thank Birch Creek Assisted Living for their care of Marlow for the last five months.
Graveside services will be held for family and friends in the Logan Cemetery on Saturday, October 26,
2024 at 11 AM.. Per Marlow and Darlene’s wishes, their ashes will be buried together.
