Mary Alice Williams
January 13, 1930 — November 21, 2018
Mary Alice (Wight) Williams of Smithfield, UT passed away peacefully on Wednesday November 21, 2018 at the age of 88 after courageous battle with Alzheimer’s.
Mary Alice was born January 13, 1930 to Lyman A. and Mary Bennett White in Malad, Idaho where she spent her childhood and adolescent years. It was there she met the love of her life. On July 8, 1948 she married Don Williams in the Logan LDS Temple. Together they raised 4 sons and one daughter; Michael (Becky), David (Kris), Kathy Allen (Craig), Jef (Tonya), and Todd (Kim). Their marriage was an example of mutual respect and unconditional love.
Mary Alice was a faithful member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. She served in numerous leadership and teaching capacities. She took advantage of every opportunity to gain additional knowledge of the church doctrine and history through her regular church meetings, self-study, as well as Institute studies at Utah State University where she graduated with honors. She shared this knowledge and her beliefs when her and Don accepted the calling to serve as missionaries in the Singapore mission. Upon their return they began their faithful 15 years of service working in the Logan LDS Temple.
In additional to their church travels in Singapore, Indonesia, and India, Mary Alice traveled extensively with her sweetheart visiting many places throughout the world. Some of their most memorable travels were their yearly anniversary trips to West Yellowstone, and their visits to Idaho, Oregon, Arizona, and Missouri to visit close friends and relatives.
Mary Alice was dedicated was a dedicate wife, mother, and homemaker; a domestic wizard! Even though her primary focus was on her family, she did hold several jobs outside of the home. Many will remember her from the Del Monte packing plant, her friendly smile at H&R Block, or while shopping for an outfit at The Wight House in downtown Logan. She was an avid sports fan! She loved to support the Jazz, The Blue Sox, The Aggies, and the Bobcats where she was able to cheer (she was a cheerleader at Malad High) on some of her own children, grand-children, and great-grandchildren. Mary Alice will be remembered for her witty personality, sense of humor, and compassionate spirit…and those killer milkshakes!
Mary Alice is survived by her 5 children, 20 grandchildren, and 35 great grandchildren and other extended family members. She was proceeded in death by her sweetheart Don, her parents, her two brothers, and one sister.
Funeral services will be held Monday, November 26, 2018 at 12:00 noon in the Smithfield 17th ward church building, 345 East 300 South, Smithfield, UT. A viewing will be help at the church from 6:00-8:00 p.m. on Sunday November 25 and from 10:30-11:30 am the morning of the services. Burial will be in the Smithfield Cemetery.
