Mearritta Joy Waite

Mearritta Joy (Saunders) Waite, age 81, loving mother of 9 and adoring wife to Sidney Aaron Waite Jr was called home to our Lord on the morning of July 19, 2024, after a courageous battle with ovarian cancer.
Mearritta was born April 7th, 1943 in Logan Utah to Earl and Mildred Saunders. She was raised with 4 siblings. Mearritta married Alton Ladewig and had 3 children, Debbie, David and Darrin. They were later divorced. While working at a lawyer’s office, she met and married her soul mate, Sidney Waite, from the day they met, it was meant to be. They recently celebrated 53 years of marital bliss on July 2, 2024 (most of which were in Hyde Park, UT). Sidney had 1 child, Toby, from a previous marriage, Sidney and Mearritta were blessed with 5 more children, Mary Dawn, Dustin, Doug, Denise and DeAnn.
Mearritta’s faith in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints was an essential part of her life. For many years she enjoyed being a “lunch lady” at several local elementary schools. Mearritta was influenced by her family to be a loving and caring woman, always giving her time to help others and she incorporated that into her motherhood. Mearritta enjoyed camping, gardening, reading and spending time with family. Mearritta and Sidney served a service mission for several years at Cinnamon Creek Campground.
She is survived by her loving husband, Sidney Aaron Waite Jr (South Jordan, UT); 8 children, Debbie (Doug) Durand (Fruitland, ID), David (Tammy) Waite (North Salt Lake, UT), Darrin (Jana) Waite (Logan, UT), Mary Dawn Waite (South Jordan, UT), Dustin (Kimberly) Waite (Marshall Islands), Doug (Rachelle) Waite (Ammon, ID), Denise (Michael) Hansen (South Jordan, UT), DeAnn (Richard) Cardon (Beaver, UT) and Daughter-in-Law, Cindi Kranek (Ogden, UT); 44 grandchildren and 21 Great grandchildren; 1 brother, Earl (Arlene) Saunders (Logan, UT). She was preceded in death by her parents, Earl and Mildred Saunders; Son, Toby Kranek; siblings Robert Saunders, Lavell Saunders and Shiela Maughan.
We are saddened we can’t have you, but we are happy to know that the angels have you. Goodbye to a wonderful wife and a beautiful mother, Love you!
