Newell Albrecht, 86, passed away in Clarkston, Utah, on Tuesday, May 14, 2024.
Dad was born in Richfield, Utah, on September 2, 1937, to Owen Albrecht and Nola Ellett Albrecht.
He married the love of his life, Carol Loraine Clair, on November 29, 1956. Their marriage was later solemnized in the Manti Temple. Together they had eight children, whom they raised in Richfield and
Hurricane, Utah, and Grand Junction, Colorado.
Dad served faithfully in many church callings, including scout leader, stake missionary and stake mission
president, and as bishop. He loved being in the Seventies Quorum and made many good friends through
it. Together he and Mom served in the Nauvoo, Illinois Mission, where they loved working together and with many others who became their dear friends. Their mission was one of the highlights of their life, and our entire family was blessed because of their service.
Dad always had a great desire to learn and live the Gospel of Jesus Christ. He loved reading the scriptures and books by general authorities, and passing on what he learned to his children and grandchildren. His life was an example to all of us on how to live a happy life filled with service to others. He loved singing in the ward choir, and was willing to serve wherever he was called, and magnified whatever calling he held. Of them all, he considered ministering to be the most important. He was very well-loved everywhere they lived, because of his devotion to his Savior, his family and his friends.
Dad was also known for his ability to fix things. He could fix nearly anything that was broken, sometimes
with items and in ways that no one else would think of. He was well-known at Home Depot in Logan, where he gave advice and assistance to many who were stymied as to what they would need to do to finish a project. He wasn’t happy unless he was working or puttering around.
Dad had several different jobs throughout his life, including gas station attendant, store owner, and railroad engineer. He excelled at everything he did, but he considered his most important job to be raising and supporting his family and numerous posterity. He loved giving advice, telling stories, helping out, showing us how to do things, camping with grandchildren, listening to us all laugh and sing together, and especially seeing us raising our own families and being able to participate in baby blessings, baptisms and weddings. His greatest joy was his wife, Carol, and his children. He always said he wouldn’t be near the man he was without her, and gave her all the credit for raising us and creating a home where all who entered felt loved.
Dad is survived by his loving wife of nearly 68 years, and by his children Dana Lynn (Elroy) Solomon, of
Grantsville, Utah; Allison (Kent) Jorgensen, of Salt Lake City, Utah; Kathy (Mike) Standifird, of Fairview,
Utah; Leslie (Stan) Miller of West Valley City, Utah; Jeremy (Michelle) Albrecht of Lehi, Utah, Kristen (Robert) Spendlove of Sandy, Utah, and Jennifer (Nathan) Whiting of Clarkston, Utah. He is also survived
by 36 grandchildren and their spouses, 43 great-grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews. He
was preceded in death by his dear son Shane Albrecht, and by his parents, Owen and Nola Ellett Albrecht, his stepfather Vern Ernsten, his three brothers and two sisters, and many other people who were very dear to him.
A viewing will be held for Dad on Saturday morning, May 18, 2024, from 9:30 to 11:30 a.m., followed by
the funeral service at 12:00 p.m. The viewing and service will be held at the Clarkston LDS Chapel, 25
East 100 South, Clarkston, Utah 84305.
