Norman Andersen, passed away on May 25, 2016 at his home in Santa Clara, UT. He was born June 27, 1924, in Arbon, ID, to John Christrian and DeSena Sorensen Andersen. Norman was raised on the family farm in Arbon and had many arduous responsibilities. He helped raise horses, cattle, sheep, pigs, chickens, ducks, geese, and turkeys. He remained there until he was thirty-two years old. He attended Valley View High, Lincoln Jr. High, and American Falls High, as well as Laney Trade School and Oakland and T.T.I. Heavy Equipment Training in Salem, OR. Norman left the family farm in 1956, and made his permanent home in Oakland, CA. Pacific Tire was his first employer in Oakland. He then worked for Oliver Tire and Rubber and the St. Regis paper Co. in San Leandro, CA. His main employer was East Bay Municipal Utility District, in Oakland, CA and retired in 1989 after twenty-six years of employment. He married Josephine DeFilippis in Elko, NV, on December 8, 1956. Norman adopted her three girls: Paulette Ruby, Charlette, and Cecelia Marie. Paulette Passed away in July 2008, in San Leandro, CA. In 1958, they had twin girls in Oakland: Pamela Lee and Priscilla Ann. Josephine Died in 1983, and was interred in Arbon, ID. Norman remarried on June 21, 1986, to Tanga Rebecca Brown Dana. They were sealed in the Oakland Temple March 3, 2001. They honeymooned in Canada and saw Expo 86. They had such a good time, they returned the following year. Norman loved gems and minerals. He was past president of east bay gem and mineral society. He and his family enjoyed many great trips looking for interesting stones. He and Tanga made it all the way to Canada, New York, the east coast, and Florida on a 14,000 mile trip with two dogs in a fifth wheel in 1996. They had a grand time and enjoyed it very much. They traveled to Israel in 2000Funeral services will be held Thursday, June 2, 2016 at 11:00 a.m. at the Santa Clara 3rd Ward Chapel, 1706 Desert Dawn Dr., Santa Clara, UT. A visitation will be held from 9:30 to 10:30 prior to the service. Funeral services in Idaho will be held Saturday, June 4, 2016 at 11:00 a.m. at the Arbon LDS Ward Chapel. A visitation will be held from 9:30 to 10:30 prior to the service. Interment will follow at the Arbon Valley Cemetery.
