Orlin D Lusk, 88, of Wellsville Utah, a husband, brother, father, grandfather, and great grandfather passed away on January 1, 2025. He was born April 9, 1936, in Hibbard, Idaho to Alvin D. and Minnie Mortimer Lusk. He was the third child of four boys. He had two older brothers Lynn and Keith, and a younger brother Dale.
Orlin D is a graduate of Sugar-Salem High School and LDS Seminary and fulfilled a mission for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints in the Southern States Mission. He attended Ricks College and Utah State University. He graduated in 1961 with a degree in Industrial Technology.
In 1960, Orlin D married Irene Keller in the Logan Temple. They were blessed with ten children, seven boys and three girls.
Orlin D was an excellent employee and a dedicated husband and father. He was a schoolteacher for many years and taught in Grantsville and Ogden, UT. He also worked for Utah State University, Smithfield Cannery, and Anderson's Lumber. He kept busy during the summer months while a teacher by doing farm work or home construction. In his spare time, and with the help of his children, Orlin D also installed shingles on many roofs throughout Cache Valley. He also supported Irene in her trampoline sales business.
Orlin D was an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. He was a dedicated church worker regardless of the call. He had a great love for the temple and served as an officiator in the Logan Temple. Orlin D had a great interest in genealogy work and was able to do temple work for many of his deceased family members. He served as Scoutmaster in his ward for many, many years and was active on several Scout committees.
Orlin D had many hobbies and interests. He liked to ski, camp, ride horses, hike, puzzle, snowmobile, and he loved to hunt. He also enjoyed farming and raising rabbits. He was a talented gardener, and his prize produce was his grapes. His favorite pastime was sharing heartfelt stories from his mission, alongside telling jokes that brought smiles and laughter to everyone around him.
Orlin D will always be treasured, and surely missed by his children, grandchildren, great grandchildren and relatives.
He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Irene, his parents, Alvin and Minnie, his brothers Lynn and Keith, as well as several brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, and many cherished nieces and nephews.
He is survived by his younger brother, Dale, as well as his children and their spouses: Scott Lusk (Ann), Will Lusk (Brenda), Debra Brog (Dan), Karl Lusk, Kristine Thurgood (Blaine), Angela Drollinger (Kevin), Kevin Lusk, Michael Lusk (Amber), Doug Lusk (Peter), and Mark Lusk. Orlin’s legacy also includes 31 grandchildren and 33 great-grandchildren, who will carry his memory forward.
The family extends heartfelt gratitude to the nurses and staff at Williamsburg Retirement Center for their compassionate and attentive care.
Funeral services will be held on Friday, January 10, 2025, at 12:00 p.m. at the Wellsville LDS Stake Center, located at 30 South Center Street, Wellsville, Utah. A viewing will precede the service from 9:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. at the same location. Interment will follow at the Wellsville City Cemetery.
