Pearl Irene Lapray Clark, passed away October 9th, 2024 at the age of 97.
Our mother was born the only daughter and the fifth of 6 children to Samuel Lapray and Bessie Josephine Hubbell Lapray on February 16th, 1927.
Pearl was born and raised in Trenton, Utah. Her father died in 1932, when she had just turned 5. She remembers riding the train up to Weston, Idaho for his burial.
Her family survived the great depression by determination and hard work. Our mother's job was to gather and clean the eggs from their 3,000 hens so they could be sold.
Mother was educated in Trenton Elementary, Lewiston Jr. High, North Cache High School and LDS Seminary in 1945. She attended the LDS Business College and the University of Utah in Salt Lake City.
Mother became re-acquainted with our dad, Andrew Max Clark during that time and they began dating long distance. They were married in the Logan LDS temple on September 20th, 1951. They were married over 69 years. They built their first home in Clarkston, Utah and lived there until 1999. They then moved to Smithfield, Utah. They spent winters in their St. George home for over 20 years.
Her life was one of service helping Dad on the farm, raising 4 children, serving in the community and church.
She served as PTA President, and member of the Variety Club. She served as President of the Primary, Young Women and Relief Society of Clarkston. She also served as the Stake Relief Society President of the Benson Stake. She helped with the Martin Harris Pageant from 1983 until 1999.
She and Dad served a full time LDS mission in San Diego. They also served as member locator missionaries in St. George, and worked the Baptistery in the St. George Temple.
While living in Smithfield they volunteered at the Logan Regional Hospital and did temple work each week.
Mother was a wonderful cook and seamstress. She enjoyed crocheting, knitting, quilting, oil painting and all kinds of handiwork. She loved family history and has done indexing nearly every day for many years. She is survived by her children, Jone and Bob Brown, Smithfield; Dorothy and Courtney Nazer, Logan; Betty and Bob Mitchell, Boise, Idaho; and Dean and Janet Clark, Saratoga Springs - as well as 14 grandchildren, soon to be 42 great grandchildren and 1 great great granddaughter.
The family would like to express their deepest appreciation to the wonderful staff at Williamsburg Retirement Community as well as the staff of Atlas Home Health and Hospice, especially Brad Mower.
Her viewing and funeral will be held at 10:00 am to 11:30 am on Saturday October 26th with the funeral to follow at 12:00. The services will be held at the LDS chapel 541 South 250 East Smithfield, Utah
Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Cache Valley Mortuary.
