Randy Kevin Nielsen, age 32, was called home to his loving Heavenly Father unexpectedly the night of February 22, 2019 in an automobile accident on his way home from a business trip in Montana.
Randy was born November 26, 1986 in Logan, Utah to Richard and Connie Nielsen of Paradise, Utah. He has 11 siblings; Scott (Aimee McPherson), Chris (Mindy Thornton), Andria (Phil Petterborg), Aaron (Natanya Crane), Jeff, Kendall (Heather Ruggles), Eric (Nicole Anderson), Jared (Lindsay Haslam), Maria (Nic LaRocco), Amy (Alex Brown), Landon (Makenzie Stromberg) and Stephanie Harris Nielsen.
He graduated from Mountain Crest in 2005 and served an honorable mission for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints in the Calgary Canada Mission. Randy was so smart he didn’t need any further education. He thought college was for suckers.
Randy was married to the love of his life, Jennifer Christensen, on September 11, 2009 in the Logan Temple for time and all eternity. Together they have 5 beautiful children, Hayden (deceased), Bridger (7), Oliva (5), Celeste (3) and Eva (1). They live in Richmond, Utah on their elk farm, one of Randy’s passions.
Randy loved anything outdoors: coon hunting, big game hunting, fishing, camping, snowmobiling, he was always up for an adventure. Whether he was working on the home he built, building a business, or helping someone in need, he loved work and had a hard time sitting still. He loved animals and always had pets: coonhounds, deer, or elk. His favorite was an elk named Goat Sucker who Randy saved as a calf by bottle feeding and eventually purchased a nursing goat to act as a surrogate mother. Despite trying to integrate him back into the herd, Goat Sucker was always the first to greet him at the gate and followed him around like a puppy.
Randy was a jack of all trades. He was employed several places throughout his life, but he was really an entrepreneur at heart, always looking for the next big deal – R&J Elk Farms, Extreme Fence, Wildfire Grill, Sierra Engineering, a hunting guide, landscaping, cabinetry, and the oil fields, just to name a few.
Randy is survived by his wife, four children, mother, his siblings (mentioned above), his in-laws Jay and Lisa Christensen, Heidi Christensen, Nicole Christensen, Brad (Tara Lowe) Christensen, Natalie (Colten) Lindsay, Amber Christensen, and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his father Richard and his son Hayden.
