It is with a heavy heart that we announce the passing of Remani Rajagopal, aged 76. She passed
away on Thursday July 18, 2024, at Maple Springs in North Logan, Utah. She was surrounded by
her immediate family and friends in her final moments. Remani was the true definition of
charity. She was a light of unwavering love, kindness, and friendship to everyone she met. Her
love for her family, friends and community was second to none.
Remani was born in her home “Rhamanattukara” in Kerala, India on March 25, 1948. She was
the youngest and only girl in her family. She had three older brothers who were very protective
of her. Remani was in her final year of college when she married her husband, Pokkavil K.
Rajagopal (Raj). They had been married for 58 years. They moved to Ghana in West Africa
where they lived for four and a half years. While back home on vacation in Calicut, India Remani
gave birth to their only child, Rajiv Rajagopal. While in Ghana Remani worked part-time as a
nursery schoolteacher. Remani and Raj moved to Logan, Utah in 1971. She worked at Utah
State University as a manager for Publications Designs and Productions on campus for 30+
years. She embraced the Cache Valley Community, and it embraced her. She was a kind and
sweet soul that selflessly served the community, whether it was volunteering in schools, local
church activities, hosting international students and friends over for dinner, hosting Indian
Poojas (Hindu worship), and visiting those in need of companionship in nursing homes. She
demonstrated that love, kindness, and service are what can unite us all.
Remani is preceded in death by her parents C. V. Gopal Menon and Padma Menon, and
brothers, Vijayan, Prabhakaran (Sunny), and Krishna Das. Remani is survived by her husband,
Pokkavil K. Rajagopal, son, Rajiv Rajagopal, daughter-in-law, Sharon L. Rajagopal, and
grandchildren, Blake Muir, Gavin Rajagopal, and Paige Rajagopal.
