Rhoda Hansen Duce June 20 1929 – June 8 2018 Rhoda Hansen Duce, 88, passed away peacefully Friday, June 8, 2018, in Las Vegas, NV. Rhoda was with her granddaughter, Andrea, at the time of her passing. Shortly before, her grandchildren and great-grandchildren had seen and spoken to Rhoda, in person and via video chat.
Rhoda was born in Logan, Utah, into the joyful family of Abraham & Agnes Hansen, and was the youngest of 17 children. Rhoda married Paul Parsons and had one son, Randall Parsons. In 1961 Rhoda married Scott Duce, after which she and Randy moved to the Antelope Valley from Logan. Scott and Rhoda had many wonderful years together. Many locals knew Rhoda from Sears; she was a Division Manager until her retirement.
Rhoda enjoyed healthy living, oil painting, quilting and serving in her church. Rhoda was a strong woman in her faith, morals, financial discipline and a great role model. Rhoda’s baking talents were unsurpassed, a talent she learned from her mother, a baker’s apprentice in Denmark prior to immigrating to Logan, UT. Rhoda’s passion was loving her family and all gatherings were a celebration and dance party! Her cooking, joyful spirit and wise advice will be greatly missed.
Rhoda is survived by her grandchildren, Andrea Cason, James Cason; great-grandchildren Brittany Becker and Jessica Pitcher; grandson-in-law Garrick Smillie, daughter-in-law Lori Parsons and great-grandson-in-law Joseph Becker. Rhoda was preceded in death by her husband Scott Duce, her son Randy Parsons, her parents and siblings. She leaves loving nieces, nephews and friends.
Funeral services where held on Saturday, July 28th at 11 a.m. at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints located at 10550 Alta Dr., Las Vegas, NV 89145.
A graveside service will be held for Rhoda and her son Randy Parsons in Logan, Utah on Saturday August 25, 2018 11:00 a.m., at the Logan City Cemetery. Following the services there will be a potluck gathering for friends and family at Willow Park West from 12-3 p.m.
Local arrangements are under the direction of Cache Valley Mortuary, 80 W. 4200 N. Hyde Park, Utah.
