North Logan - Richard Dale (Dick) Cleland, 75 passed away on April 19, 2014. He was born on Oct 13, 1938 to Clarence Andrew and Amelia (Youngberg) Cleland. He had two brothers Leonard and Robert. He enjoyed his Swedish heritage at his grandma and grandpa Youngbergs, with his cousins Brownie and Claudie in Murray. He played in the church All State Basketball Team. He had a fast Crown Victorian and enjoyed his life to the fullness. He went to BYU where he met the love of his life, Eileen V Mecham. They were married in the Salt Lake City Temple on Oct 13 1959. They started their lives together in Rawlins Wyoming, where he started working at L.M. Olson Construction. He enjoyed hunting elk, antelope, jack rabbits, and coyotes. After seven years they returned to Logan, Utah to complete his degree at Utah State where he was told his current profession would be better. Making many friends all along the way, both in his profession, such as electrician and dry-waller, as well as morning breakfasts and friends. He was an avid hunter, loved elk bugling and calling in geese. He never used a duck call to hunt duck. They had six children, they raised and love deeply, and also shared their home with other foster children as well. As a father, he will be missed, loved and the many memories cherished by his family. He is survived by his wife, Eileen V (Mecham) Cleland and children, Monica (Jamey) Merrill, Alan (Chris) Cleland and family, Greg (Elisbeth) Cleland and family, Sheri (Dave) Merritt and family, Jess and Dylan Cleland. His love and legacy live on in his 16 grandchildren and 21 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers, one nephew and one great grandchild Jakoby Maughan. A viewing will be on April 22, 2014 from 6 p.m. till 8 p.m. at the LDS Church 1109 E. 2100 North Logan. Funeral Service will be held on April 23, 2014 at 11 a.m. at the LDS church 1109 East 2100 North, North Logan with a viewing from 9:30 am till 10:30 am at the church.
