Robert Milton Thomas

December 10, 1946 — March 4, 2023

Robert Milton Thomas (Bob) was born to the late Harold Burns Thomas a sheriff and Virginia Mary Eddy,
a homemaker on Dec 10 th , 1946, in San Bernardino, CA. He was raised with his two siblings Maelisa and
Terry, by his grandparents: Milton Joseph Eddy and Anna Marguerite O’Donnell of Fontana CA. In 1964,
he graduated from Western High School in Las Vegas NV. In 1967, he enlisted in the army and served in
Vietnam as an E5 Air Traffic Controller in Long Binh, Can Tho, Tan Son Nhut (Saigon) during the Tet
Offensive, Pleiku Army and at Bao Loc among the Montagnards.
In 1971 he married Sharon Lorraine Pollock in the St. George UT Temple, and they welcomed three
children into their lives: Christine, Ginger and Benjamin. Bob spent many years searching for his perfect
profession. Among some of his jobs, he worked as a waiter, a taxi driver, an air traffic controller at
McCarran Airport, and a telephone splicer with AT&T in Las Vegas. A dental technician in Burbank CA,
Yucaipa CA and Forest Falls CA. He eventually settled on insurance and ran a successful Farmers
Insurance agency in Redlands CA with his wife Sharon for 25 years. Bob was not your typical insurance
agent and was so beloved, when he announced he was retiring, he had many clients come into his office
with tears in their eyes and beg him not to leave as they would never find anyone as honest and kind,
someone who they considered not just their agent, but their friend.
Bob lived his life in the service to others. He enjoyed many callings in his faith, but among his favorites
was with the High Adventure Scouts, the Priest Explorers, Cub Scout Master, Ward and Stake Clerk and
two couple’s missions to the Logan Temple and with the Green Canyon Special Needs Seminary Class.
Over Bob’s 76 years he had many hobbies including beekeeping, blacksmithing, CB and HAM radio
operator, wood working, building and flying model airplanes, camping, boating, shooting and serving as
a range master.
On March 4 th , 2023, He left this world surrounded by those he loved the most. He was a friend, a
mentor, a teacher, an adventure buddy, a prankster, an advocate and our biggest cheerleader. But most
importantly he was a devoted husband, a loving dad, grandpa and great grandpa, our treasure and our
heart.
Bob is survived by his wife, Sharon; his daughters Christine and Ginger; his son Benjamin; his
grandchildren Craig, Hilary, Julia, Matthew, Quinn, Hannah, Jacob, Sophia, Emery, and Orion; his great
grandchildren Bella, Aidan, Tristan, Cedric, Luke and Alice; and his sister Maelisa Eddy.
