Roger Stapley

Roger M Stapley passed away January 6, 2016 in Logan Utah. He was 69 years old. Roger was born on March 23, 1946 in Phoenix, Arizona to Cleo Allen and George Stapley. He graduated in 1964 from Mesa High School and honorably completed a 2.5 year LDS mission in Helsinki Finland, where he made many lifelong friends. Throughout his working years he had employment in various fields including sales, construction management, and computer technology. He moved to Alaska from Arizona in 1974 to work on the pipeline and stayed in Alaska for 30 years before retiring to Nine Mile Falls, Washington in 2005. He will be fondly remembered for his service in the church as a seminary teacher, scoutmaster, stake young mens president, high councilor, bishopric member, and basketball referee. Roger was an avid sports fan and loved watching and playing softball (a love he inherited from his father), basketball, and football. When his children were young he loved to take them camping, biking, swimming, and on road trips. Roger is survived by his wife, DeAnn Nielsen Stapley; His brother Terry (Sandra); and his 6 children; Scott (Monica), Greg (Emily), Cullen, Taylor (Nicole), Rebekka, and Laney (Frank) and his 13 grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his parents, his first wife Sandra, and his brother Richard. A funeral will be held for Roger in North Logan on January 12, 2016 and he will be buried in the Hyrum City Cemetery.
