Ronald Fay Archibald

February 2, 1939- October 21, 2023 (Age 84)
Ronald Faye Archibald (Ron) of Smithfield, Utah, was born February 2, 1939, and passed away the
morning of October 21, 2023.

He was born in Logan, Utah, to Edith Godfrey and Leland H. Archibald. He was the fourth of eight children. Ron spent his early years growing up in Clarkston, Utah. He enjoyed telling many stories of “tromping hay”, topping beets, milking cows, riding horses and pulling pranks with his brothers. The family moved to Amalga, Utah during his teen years. Ron loved his infamous car, a 1959 convertible Dodge Custom Royal. He graduated from North Cache High School and soon after started his career driving big rigs (semi’s). He drove for Barton Truck Line, Casper's Ice Cream and finished his career driving for Cache Valley Dairy. He then started his own backhoe business. He and his son, Andy, installed many sewer systems for many people of Smithfield. He tried to retire, but his need to always be busy gave him is third career. He was a part- time custodian for Sky View High School and then full time as the head custodian for ten years. He tried retirement once again, almost did it, but returned to mowing lawns for the Cache County School District for a few more years.

Ron married Sheila Clifford on June 3, 1960, in the Logan Temple. They have four children, Shari, Melanie, Andy and Shawn. They lived in Logan and moved to Smithfield and have lived there for nearly 50 years. Ron enjoyed hunting, fishing, riding horses, and camping with family. He loved his grandchildren and regularly spoiled them, by giving gifts, cash and telling funny stories. His children and grandchildren could always count on him for great stories, jokes, nicknames and funny sayings.

Ron was preceded in death by his parents, sister Gwen, brothers Delon, Deloy, Clarence, Vernon, Lee and his daughter, Shari.

He is survived by his wife Sheila and children, Matt Hansen (son in law), Melanie Purser (Del Ray) Andy (Jamie) and Shawn. Grandchildren, step grandchildren and great grandchildren: Heath (Brit), Dustin (Lori), Clint (Erica), Caitlin (Luke), Riley (Sydney), Alexa, Kade, Gage, Kayli, Tenley, Reagan, Olivia, Rowan, Ashton, Carter, Graham, Ellie, Easton, Rocky, Jett, Luke, Daina, Jaxon, Cooper and Lucy.

An indoor graveside service will be held at 11:00 a.m. at Cache Valley Mortuary, 80 West 4200 North, Hyde Park, Utah with burial immediately after in the Clarkston cemetery on Saturday, October 28, 2023. The family is grateful to the ICU staff at Logan Hospital for their kindness and concern in taking care of Ron. Although we will miss him immensely, we are comforted to know he is free from suffering and is with his angel daughter, Shari.
