Ronald P. Hansen

Ronald Peter Hansen passed away on Tuesday, June 13, 2017 at the age of 79. He is preceded in death by his parents, Lloyd Herbert and Lucy Kunz Hansen, two brothers, Eldon and Jay, five sisters LaRue, Lucy Mae, Idonna, Gwen and Darlene, and grandson Joshua. He is survived by his loving wife, Beth, his children, Randy (Jill), Connie Beck (Joe), Gail Lamb (Kim), Mike, Tammy Soto (Raul), Colleen Cruz (Jorge), Danny (Holly), and Brent (Christy), and his brothers Clar, D’Vaughn and Gordon. He is also survived by 23 grandchildren and 5 great-grandchildren. Ron held many titles in his life. On August 2, 1937, he was born in Lewiston, Utah and wore the title of Son and Brother. It was in Lewiston that he first learned the value of hard work and the importance of family. He frequently talked about the lessons he learned from his parents. He loved spending time with his siblings. Some of his favorite moments were spent playing Rook with his brothers and sisters.He held the title of Student throughout his life. In 1955, he graduated from North Cache High School. He attended classes at BYU before going on to obtain his Journeyman’s Certificate in Heating and Air Conditioning at Pasadena City College. Ron was also a sheet metal apprentice in Los Angeles. He was honored and humbled to hold the titles of Missionary and Bishop. As a devout member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, Ron served in the New Zealand South Mission from January 1959 through July 1961. He fell in love with the Maori people. He spoke of Maori culture and traditions on a regular basis. His mission played a profound role throughout his time on earth. As a Bishop, he was grateful for the opportunity to serve so many of the people that surrounded his daily life. His favorite times were spent with the youth and their parents while teaching and learning about the Gospel. The titles he was most proud of were Husband, Dad and Grandpa. The love he had for his sweetheart, Beth, was unconditional and devoted. She was the light of his life and that light will shine throughout the eternities. The two were married in the Logan LDS Temple on April 1, 1963. No matter where life took him, he was always proud to share stories about his incredible bride. He loved spending time with each of his children. He was a remarkable teacher who had the special ability of making each of his kids feel like they were his favorite child. His dairy farm in Lewiston was a platform for many life lessons to each of his children. He spoke often about how his farm never made him wealthy, but he was a very rich man because of the family that he was able to raise. As a Grandpa, he tried to spend as much time with his grandkids as he could. He attended countless soccer, baseball, football and basketball games. He loved taking his grandkids for rides on 4-wheelers and in tractors and sang folk songs all along the way. Later in his life, he was careful to remember to send happy birthday text messages or phone calls to each of his grandkids. His family was his everything. His testimony of the Gospel was absolute. He looked forward to reuniting with his family and friends in Heaven. Ron created a tremendous legacy on Earth. No matter the title that people knew him by, he left an everlasting impact on their lives. All is well. Viewings and Funeral Services are under the direction of Cache Valley Mortuary, (435)-787-8514, and will be held at the Lewiston 2nd Ward LDS chapel, 10 South 1600 West, Lewiston, Utah. Viewings will take place 6:00-8:00 pm Sunday, June 18, 2017 and 10:30-11:30 am Monday, June 19, 2017. Funeral services will be Monday, June 19 at 12:00 noon.
