Ronda Smith Cronquist passed away peacefully surrounded by her loving family on January 11th, 2018. She was born on December 15th, 1947 to Acesil and Hazel Smith in Logan UT, where she grew up with her three siblings: Janet, Clyde and Claire. On June 12th, 1964, she married her first and only true love, Terry Elam Cronquist, at 16 years young. Together they raised three beautiful children: Shelly, Destry, and Bobby. Later in life, Ronda gained her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, whom she truly adored and loved. Some would say she even spoiled them rotten, but she would say that they were just loved. Ronda was an amazing mother, grandmother, and wife. She and her family enjoyed many outdoor activities. They spent their time hunting, fishing, camping, horseback-riding, and snowmobiling; and the family’s love for the horse-track was no secret. In more recent years, Ronda and Terry discovered new hobbies including golfing and razor-riding. They even made a few trips to the sand dunes. She made sure we all knew how we were very loved. She was the perfect example of what a mother and grandmother should be. She taught us how to treat each other with love and care. She could find the light in the darkest of places. With her, the glass was always half full. With her strength and perseverance, she fought her earthly struggles with courage and never had a single complaint, instead she focused on whatever she could do to help someone in need. She was the definition of “selflessness”. She was always there with a listening ear and without judgment. She would make you feel like the most important person in the world and always assured you that tomorrow was a new day. She has set the bar so high that we will work endlessly to attempt to fill her shoes. During the tough trials of Ronda’s life she had some very special caregivers. Over the years, her husband was able to learn from her example and took such great care of her during her time of need. Her youngest daughter and her husband, Bobby and Brandon, along with their children, Makaylee and Taelynn, were such an amazing care team at home for Ronda. She is survived by her children and their spouses, Shelly and Ray, Destry and Stephanie, and Bobby and Brandon, her many grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She is also survived by her two brothers, Clyde and Patty Smith, and Claire and Jenny Smith. She is preceded in death by her twin boys, Terry and Larry, her sister, Janet Bailey, and her mother and father. The family would like to extend a special thank you to Lee’s Pharmacy, Logan Regional Hospital ICU Staff and Respiratory, South West Spine and Pain Clinic, and Mary Orians, and to all of our friends, family, and neighbors that have been so supportive and helpful throughout this difficult time. There will be a memorial held on Tuesday, January 16th, 2018, from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., at the Cache Valley Mortuary, 80 West 4200 North, Smithfield, UT. In respect of Ronda’s wishes, we will be delaying the grave-side services until after the death of her beloved husband, Terry. When that time comes, their ashes shall be joined together. The family has requested that in lieu of flowers, please donate to the American Lung Cancer Association.
