Ross Stewart Buttars, 92, of Clarkston, Utah passed away peacefully in his home early on the morning of January 31, 2025, surrounded by his loving family.
Ross was born on February 3, 1932, in a cute little house in Clarkston that his grandparents had previously owned. He was born the 4th of 5 children and the only son to his beloved parents, Harvie Lou Buttars and Lottie Jardine Buttars.
He had unconditional love and a spirit full of self-determination, loyalty, passion, and a fun sense of humor. He had many talents that included some of his favorite things like digging in the dirt and producing big, sweet onions and carrots that he loved to share with his family. Some of his other hobbies included swing dancing with his sweetheart, playing baseball until he broke his leg, and raising and taking care of horses. He loved fishing and ice fishing, camping, and going out to eat. One of his favorites was a Navajo taco from Angie’s. Most of all he loved his family, and his main interest was spending time with them. He was a hard worker and always provided for his family.
Ross played basketball in high school and graduated from North Cache in 1950. He met his sweetheart, Louise Baker Buttars at the dance hall in Hyrum, UT, and they were joined for time and eternity in the Logan LDS Temple, July 18, 1951. They were blessed with one daughter and two sons. Ross and Louise celebrated their 50th Golden Anniversary on July 18, 2001, in their hometown of Clarkston with their family and friends. They were married for 60 years before Louise passed away in 2011. Ross has waited 13 years for a happy reunion.
Ross was preceded in death by his parents and siblings, his loving wife, Louise, and his daughter, Darlene.
He is survived by his sons, Gerald (Vanessa) Buttars of Clarkston, UT, Dennis (Kelly) Buttars of Long Beach, WA, son-in-law, Clyde (Patty) Smith of Smithfield, UT, 20 grandchildren, 46 great-grandchildren, and 15 great great-grandchildren.
We would like to thank Intermountain Hospice for the loving care they provided for our dad.
Funeral services will be held on February 6th at noon with a viewing prior from 10:00-11:30 AM at the Clarkston church, 25 East 100 South Clarkston, UT.
